The Clone Disk utility will copy partitions from one disk to another. Simply click the Tools and Utilities tab and choose to Clone Disk from the tools available. I could simply take an image of the drive and restore the image to the new drive using the bootable media but I was looking for a reason to review the Acronis True Image Drive Cloning process so here is the review. The second drive, Disk 1, is the new 250 Gigabyte drive that will be the replacement for the dying drive after the clone is complete. It is partitioned at about 50 Gigabytes for the Windows OS and the applications and there is some allocated space available in case I wanted to dual boot or use the partition for other reasons. Disk 0 is the original 160 Gigabyte drive that is about ready to byte the dust. The Windows drive manager shows the two hard drives installed in the computer. A new drive is temporarily installed using the secondary SATA connector as shown below. Luckily, this drive is not actually crashing Windows yet so we have a chance to clone it to a new disk. The looks of True Image have changed a bit but the concept of cloning a hard drive to upgrade it has not changed much. This review of Acronis True Image was performed on an older version of the cloning software. This review would work for either scenario. The True Image cloning utility is also a great tool to use if you just want to upgrade your drive to a larger one. Cloning is the perfect tool to move the entire contents of a failing drive to a new one. Once again thank you for the fantastic support, and I hope I have made this to confusing. This review of cloning a hard drive using True Image is being done because of a hard drive that is about to have a physical failure. I saw something that might be this but I don't want to take a chance and possibly have the wrong section.

But I didn't find anything specifically on how to create a clean image. I read and found the part on cloning a disk drive which I found very helpful. I know I could use the cloning aspect of the program but I won't be purchasing the new hard drive right away. Is that the part you described above disk and partition backup? and are you saying in order to complete this backup that I have to create a bootable disk? I plan on buying a new larger faster hard drive to replace the one that's going to come with my new machine so can I use this to make an exact copy of my OS and transfer everything to my new hard drive. I have to honestly tell you that I find the a little confusing so could you please explain this procedure for creating a clean image of the OS on my new machine. And yes!! I want to create a clean image of the OS as soon as I get the machine that's why I bought your product before actually purchasing the new computer so I could read up on this and know exactly how to proceed. After doing a little reading it appears that the CD in the box is bootable are you saying that once I download the latest build that I will have to create a bootable version of the updated version I will be downloading.

Hello and thank you for your reply! Well I should have mentioned it but I have the 2010 boxed version can I till update it I have the long registration number I assume that's all that is required. When it detects a third-party process that tries to encrypt your files, it informs you about it, and asks if you want to allow the process to modify your files or block the process. Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation monitors processes running on your computer by using the real-time mode. This will allow you to download the latest build of Acronis True Image Home, and - if you'd like to avoid installing the product onto the new machine - the bootable media in ISO format, which can be burnt onto the CD or loaded to the USB drive (see Grub4Dos instructions). There are also frequently asked questions, a product rating and feedback from users to enable you to optimally use your product.
